Undrafted Free Agent Profile: Justin Richards Bolts From College for the Blue Shirts

The University of Minnesota-Duluth Bulldogs, carried by their core of stars, have maintained their position near the top of the NCHC Conference and repetitively appeared in the NCAA’s Frozen Four tournament.

That might not happen without stud centre Justin Richards, whom the New York Rangers signed to an entry-level contract on April 2nd.

At first glance, Richards’ Freshman season made the promotion to the top of his team’s depth chart just a year later seem like an unlikely proposition — he only recorded nine points, all of them assists. Where he excelled was in establishing himself as a dependable player, one the coach could rely upon to erase the opposition’s attack and get the puck moving the other way post-haste.
