ROBENHYMER: How Joel Farabee’s Connection to his Faith Prepares him for the Adversity Ahead

Joel Farabee hasn’t faced much adversity in his hockey career.

With the exception of the Youth Olympics when he was 14, Farabee’s never had to suffer a cut for any team he’s tried out for. And, besides a lower-body injury at the end of last season that delayed the bulk of his off-season training until June, he’s never had a significant injury either.

But, as the 19-year-old, who is embarking on his first NHL training camp, very astutely said, “I know the challenges are coming.”

“You don’t make it to the NHL without going through some adversity,” Farabee continued. “And, you definitely don’t stay there without it either.
