Scouting Report: Day 1 of Hlinka-Gretzky in Břeclav – Canada vs. Finland, Switzerland vs. Czechia

As a testament to the commitment EliteProspects and EP Rinkside are making to taking the NHL Draft and prospect coverage by storm, I’m on the scene in Břeclav scouting the Hlinka-Gretzky Cup.

This tournament, like none other, represents the start of the scouting season for the NHL’s amateur talent evaluators. Each of the league’s 31 teams are well-represented in the Czech Republic, with as many as 250 scouts showing up on Day 1 of the tournament in Břeclav. Consider for a moment that games are being played all the way over in Piešťany, Slovakia and it’s all the more remarkable.
