Post-Draft Prospect Profiles: Axel Bergkvist No. 200 to the Arizona Coyotes

Despite putting together a solid 2017-18 season, Axel Bergkvist didn’t hear his name called in Dallas at the end of his first year of draft-eligibility.

What did Berqkvist do in the wake of that disappointment? Put together an even better season and cross the stage in Vancouver last June as one of the newest members of the Arizona Coyotes organization.

It wasn’t a Picasso. The start to Berqkvist’s draft-plus-two season was far from perfect, for the player and his Leksands IF team alike. Leksand struggled in the Allsvenskan and Berqkvist suffered guilt by association, as the team sent him down to the J20 SuperElit despite fine play.
